Elevate Hope Foundation

Dear Friends,
My friend Ms. Sheila E. has contacted me recently with an appeal on behalf of her charitable organization, the Elevate Hope Foundation. One of the beneficiaries of The foundation is the Lincoln Child Center, which has undergone severe budget cuts, and needs our support. Attached is more information on the center, and an appeal from She is also one of the most fearless women I’ve known. I recall a time on tour in Gothenburg, Sweden, back in 1987-88, when we’d all gone to an amusement park. The park was home to the world’s largest roller coaster (at that time.) Not one of the guys would get on the mammoth ride with me, but Miss Sheila E. said “sure, I’ll go!” Truth be told, I’m not sure which of us screamed louder!
It comes as no surprise to me that she has hitched her star to a philanthropic cause. Through the Elevate Hope Foundation, Sheila works ceaselessly to raise funds and awareness for abused and neglected children. Her most recent event, “Circle of Passion, An Evening with Lloyd Klein” brought together celebrities and friends who donated their time and talents on behalf of Sheila’s foundation.
I would like to offer my personal endorsement of Sheila’s good work and genuine concern for the well-being of the recipients of these funds. In support of the Elevate Hope Foundation, I will be the first to write a check to this worthwhile charity, and I hope you will be so inclined to follow my lead. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Here is their letter in its entirety:
August 2006 Dear Harlan,
It has been quite sometime that we at Elevate Hope Foundation have been in contact with you regarding our foundation’s current events and information. Our website is designed to keep you informed of any immediate activity so please log on towww.elevatehope.org from time to time for more information.
We are writing to you today on behalf of all our beneficiaries that rely on the support we give for treatment and recreation. Since our last event, our contributions have been down and this has consequently challenged our abilities to at the very least reach our goal to support these severely neglected children substantially. We continue to donate supplies, computers, keyboards, and learning programs geared towards the arts for therapy. However, this barely scratches the surface and there is so much more to be done.We were recently informed that one of our beneficiaries, Lincoln Child Center was forced to close their RCL 12 facility due to lack of funding. Lincoln is one of the most extensive placement facilities that catered to all levels mandated by the state. It was very disappointing to hear this news, as we are painfully aware that it is the higher-level facilities that are so rare. These children have the most severe needs and are at such a higher risk if they do not receive the proper treatment, environment and supervision.
It is our desire to become an organization that can contribute to Lincoln, on an annual basis, to ensure that programs like these stay in place. It has been determined that it takes about $14,500.00 per month, per student to receive the proper care, treatment, therapy, and credited instructors needed to increase their changes for a full recovery from their abuse and or neglect.
Although Lincoln will continue to provide the children in their facility the most excellent care, we are hoping that our foundation can ensure that they will receive the assistance that the state does not provide. We here at EHF are still pressing toward the mark of opening the Compassion Care Center to further assist facilities like Lincoln and care givers who understand the greater need for their children. Our foundation office also has had its challenges due to lack of funding but is still on the forefront of supporting our causes.
Please consider becoming an annual or semi annual donor to EHF. We need you to dig deep into your hearts and tap in to the need that these children have. At the end of the day, it’s up to us to make a difference in the very lives of these children. There are countless agencies that contribute millions to research year round. The forgotten children, the innocent victims of child abused and neglect deserve and desire the same accommodation. Are we able to assist the needs of these children that cry out daily for our help? Yes we are.
We look forward to your continued support. Donations can be submitted by check and mail or online. And please, share this information with someone else. Someone of whom you believe wants to make a difference by contributing to such a cause as the Elevate Hope Foundation.
Remembering the children,
Lynn Mabry
