This is horrific. Of course the mainstream news outlets didn’t carry this. It’s news like this that should be covered. I have stopped bothering with news from major outlegs. BBC and NPR are where I get all my news now. Sadly most Americans get their news from Fox. It’s a sad (and ignorant) state of affairs.

Blame the media. No celebrities involved. Also a woman. And she’s black.
Ever notice you don’t see big stories centered around black women?
Where are the rallying groups that went to support the Jena Six? I
agree that those young men were being unfairly treated for the extent
of their crime, but is defending six kids who beat up another student
more important than supporting a woman who was abducted and tortured?
She was purely a victim with clear racial motives, and she seems to
have no support (at least from what I read) other than her mother.

Why were these kidnappers even on the streets. Their records are
horrific. You can bet a black teenager with the same record would be
on death row. This is what is wrong with our media and the screwed up
priorities of our Justice System. And what message does that poor
girl get when she has no lawyers or media hogging leaders running to
West Virginia to support her? It’s a mess.

Well to be fair, I think this is more of you being a little late Hucky. It got a LITTLE coverage nationally. Of course it received no where near the attention the Michael Vick case received, however it did recieve a bit of attention on the “Black” blogs, radio shows, newspapers, etc. There were a couple of stories on the local news in my city, however again after about 2 days, it was gone completely. There was even some controversy on whether it was a hate-crime at all because their was some confusion on whether the woman knew/date one of the attackers.

Anyway, this was a horrible case that deserved more attention than it received.

News is not news anymore it is just media sensationalism. We are light years ahead in technology and light years behind in social acceptance.

This is unbelievable. I hope they get whats coming to them. This needs to be aired more, more people will get behind her. I’m so outraged about this. peace Sonia

There is actually a march on Washington today regarding injustice and Ms. Williams’ case is one of the matters that is being focused on.

I don’t believe the march has gotten a lot of mainstream attention but the march is happening nonetheless. There is a bit more information at BlackAmericaWeb.com or on the Tom Joyner website.

I live here in Richmond, Va and the people down here are so two-faced and hypocritical. They are always screaming and hollering over animals or caucausian people being killed or hurt. Yet, when it is a black person being a baby, child or adult, there is never any outcry.

Where was the outcry when that man a couple of weeks ago raped his 8 day old daughter. She died from internal bleeding. And there was no outcry over that either.

this is outragious. it’s the most inhumane thing that i have ever heard in a long time. it made me sick and cry for the injustice. isn’t there something about equal rights?
